The author reveals the actuals and newness of 200-year-old event – the Patriotic War in 1812, which was one of the cruel and bloody wars in the World’s History. The article will be useful for the Russian Literature teachers, pupils and reading public, interested in Russian History.

The article contains an analysis of the inner monologue of Prince Andrew, his axiological and ideological attitudes revealing in the literary hero the features of the Napoleonic paradigm transforming into an archetype. The egoistic principle which prevails in Bolkonsky's mind at the beginning of the novel passes through a series of tests of an essential character in the course of the narrative, and the first of these, no doubt, is the battle of Austerlitz. The author uses biographical, comparative-historical research methods
