The author for the first time in the scientific literature examines in detail the history of the attempted in the mid-1850s. Olonets Governor Muravyov and Bishop Arkady attempts to establish an Orthodox monastery on the site of the famous Old Believer community in Danilov, reveals all its participants and the reasons for its failure. It turned out that the correspondence on this case lasted more than 10 years. The main reasons for the failure were: 1) the relative liberalization of government policy towards the Old Believers under Alexander II, a vivid illustration of which is the opinion of Senator Dugamel; 2) bickering between the governors Volkov and Arseniev, on the one hand, and the Olonets spiritual consistory and Bishop Arkady, on the other; 3) lack of financial resources for the establishment and maintenance of another Orthodox monastery.
The article analyzes the autobiographical narrative of Epiphanius, who took monastic orders in the Solovetsky Monastery. Epiphanius Solovetsky is an Old Believer writer of the XVII century, an opponent of the church reforms carried out by Patriarch Nikon, an associate and associate of Protopop Avvakum in exile in Pustozersk, a monk martyr (burned by royal decree on April 12 (24), 1682). In the life of monk Epiphanius, contexts where the word "saint" plays the role of an adjective are identified, stable constructions with this unit, their meaning, are characterized by the peculiarities of the functioning of the name. The results are a description of traditions and innovations in the use of the adjectival saint.
