This article examines methods of lexical representation of facial expressions in the text of E. Vodolazkin’s novel “Brisbane”. Based on the principle of localisation, four thematic groups have been identified (‘Mouth’, ‘Eyes’, ‘Forehead’, ‘Cheeks’). It has been established that the facial expressions under investigation perform psychological, communicative and expressive functions, serving as a tool for detailing the psychological portrait of a character. Facial expressions are verbalised through two lexical-syntactic models: direct nomination and descriptive constructions. It has been established that the postpositional placement of nominations allows the semantic content of a line to be corrected, supplemented or refuted.
