This paper provides a review of studies devoted to the development and application of physical instrumental methods, as well as digital methods, for jewelry diamond color assessment. Polished diamonds are visually assessed based on a combination of optical factors, such as brilliance, dispersion, and scintillation. Each of the methods reviewed has limitations associated with taking these properties into account and combining them into a single, coherent picture, as used in the visual method.
