During the Great Patriotic War, the servicemen of the Soviet Army demonstrated an unprecedented example of courage, unprecedented perseverance and selfless service to their Homeland. The mass heroism of Soviet soldiers and officers was the result of the enormous educational and ideological activities of both party organizations at all levels and commanders. This article discusses some of the forms and methods of work of the command and party-political bodies of the 8th Air Army to educate pilots of courage, fortitude and courage during the defensive period of one of the most important and largest battles of the Great Patriotic War, and the Second World War – the Battle of Stalingrad.
