Article discloses heroism of the Soviet women in days of the Great Patriotic War on education and protection of children in rear regions of the country. Motherhood was considered as important social and economic function of the woman. Confidence of soldiers at the front in protection of children provided peace of mind being at war and at the same time, cemented unity of the front and back.

In the current conditions, issues of ensuring military security and strengthening the protection of the country have become of paramount importance, which means that educational activities among military personnel have become critically important. An analysis of the past shows that the search for optimal solutions for the leadership of the state and the army can rely on a variety of resources, including accumulated military, pedagogical and political experience. Using this experience allows us to preserve the connection of generations in the field of patriotic education of servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation today. This article briefly discusses the key ideas, main provisions, types and methods of organizing party and political work in the Red Army during the Russian Civil War.
