The article presents a comprehensive analysis of indicators of socio-economic development of single-industry towns of the Samara region in the period 2013-2017. On the basis of statistical data, the conditions and trends in the current state and development of single-industry towns of the Samara region are identified.

The urgency of solving the problems of ensuring economic security and sustainability of single-industry towns around the world is increasing due to the new tasks of strategic development of the world economy and ensuring world order. The article analyzes the directions of state support for mono-oriented cities in the BRICS countries (Brazil, China and Russia), defines the vectors of development and historical stages of changing patterns of state behavior in relation to Russian single-industry towns. The basic theoretical provisions of the state policy on ensuring economic security and sustainability of single-industry towns in Russia are revealed.
