The article considers user-generated content in YouTube video hosting as a narrative in media discourse. The impact of comments is not so much on the authors of the channels, how many users can be manipulative in the event of a deliberate act of destruction of a positive or negative image of the communicator, distracting the attention of the audience from the main author’s thought, shift of emphasis in order to form an inadequate reality of the idea of what is happening. The main methods of manipulative influence in the texts of comments of users of popular YouTube channels are presented.
The article is devoted to the problem of manifestation of the property of transitivity in the nomination of the subject of religious sermon. The material of the study is English-language sermons of the late 19th – early 21st centuries, presented on the Internet. The author notes that transitivity is associated with the passivation of verbs and has a certain pragmatic potential, consisting in focusing the attention of the mass addressee on the action taking place (not the subject himself), as well as increasing the influence on his consciousness, emotions and feelings.
