Respect for the rights of citizens by State bodies and officials is a priority for the State. This problem is most acute in the criminal prosecution of citizens. This article deals with certain violations of the rights of the accused during the preliminary investigation of crimes. It has been established that, under the seemingly detailed regulation of the procedure for guaranteeing the accused the rights provided by law, there are still unresolved problems with respect to certain rights of the accused in Russian criminal proceedings.
