The article summarizes the study of the category of time in the modern literary criticism becomes the problem of eternity as the Christian concept of the meaning of life the purpose of man; an attempt to tie together the principles of historicism developed in the twentieth century and changes in their understanding in the current literature of the XXI century, in particular on the novel by E. G. Vodolazkin "Laurus".
In this article we will deal with two main types of time (objective and subjective), their differences, human mental processes. We observe the body's biological clock dependence on the objective time and identify four types of time orientation, as well as two types of time perception (linear and instantaneous). We will pay attention to the peculiarities of the time perception moving in a straight line (uniqueness, irreversibility and circulation from the past through the present to the future), in a circle (return to the past, stability, stability, increasing duration) or in a spiral.
