The article presents the construction of a simulation experiment that allows to determine the influence of the number of gradations of indicators on the measurement precision. The data of the simulation experiment were generated taking into account their processing within the framework of the theory of latent variables. The initial data is generated for the most commonly used gradations – from two to ten.
Many latent variables are characterized by quantitative variables. In order to use quantitative variables within the framework of the theory of latent variables, their categorization was carried out. The differentiating ability of the categorized variables was carried out using analysis of variance.
