The approach to studying life-quality of families is presented in this article. Objective life-quality coefficients and subjective ones are considered. Regional aspects of life-quality of young families on the European North are analyzed on basis of empirical evidence. The principle about necessity of public policy’s effective measures in regard to young family is settled.

The article discusses the main aspects of the quality of life of young families in the Smolensk region. Various parameters are disclosed, which are included in the concept of “quality of life”. The authors provide data from an empirical research aimed at identifying objective and subjective parameters of the quality of life of young families.
