The article is devoted to the problem of teaching a foreign (English) language in a mixed learning format. Through the example of using a distance course “Listening practice. Stories to Listen and Enjoy”, created on the open-source learning platform Moodle, the author analyzes the functionality of this learning environment for organizing independent extracurricular work of students and effectiveness of the combination of classroom and offline learning modes.
