Agriculture is very important for most countries and regions because makes up the bulk of the income of a given entity. The article analyzes the state of animal husbandry in the Smolensk region over the past 3 years, factors of improving the activities of agricultural organizations.

Annotation. Intensive gardens were laid, which are used in teaching students (agronomists, foresters, ecologists, etc.). The task of the university team is to mobilize educational and scientific potential for training interested subjects in the conduct of intensive gardening on the basis of educational and scientific clusters created at the university, incl. in intensive gardens. The educational, scientific, industrial and innovative cluster structure of the university functioning today makes it possible to purposefully and effectively use modern laboratories in training farmers-gardeners: soil and water research, phytosanitary control and plant quarantine, processing of agricultural products, which were used for grant funds of international projects in recent years, as well as laid out intensive gardens in the Educational and Experimental Farm and the Plant Nursery of the University.

Rostov region is a large industrial center of Russia. Various types of industry are developed on its territory, the main one of which is agriculture. Every year the quality of agricultural lands in the Rostov region is deteriorating, there is an urgent need to monitor the lands, not to "overstrain" the soil, to give it a rest (leave it to fallow), to monitor the condition (composition) of the soils and to add missing elements.
