The article examines the use of authentic professional videos in the process of learning English by cadets of a military university, describes their advantages over existing teaching methods. The authors consider the stages of work with video materials, give a description of the aims of each stage of working with them, as well as offer optimal exercise options to include watching a video during the classroom lesson.
Multimedia is extremely popular nowadays with school children especially. The teachers are in constant search of new forms and methods of teaching to stay up-to-date. The author analyses the educational potential of TED-Ed – You-tube program with a vast variety of authentic videos in English. Some possible ways of classwork are provided.
