Russian legislation seeks to humanize the criminal justice system by introducing the resocialization of convicts. Conducting telephone conversations by means of video communica-tion, but at this stage of the reform in the penal system there are no regulations for monitoring and removing information from carriers about telephone conversations of convicts during the imple-mentation of operational investigative activities in the penal system.

This article is devoted to the study of problematic aspects and prospects for the development of institutions that carry out custodial sentences. Special attention is paid to various aspects that hinder the effective correction of convicted persons. Thanks to the analysis of the NPA, as well as a detailed study of practice, possible ways to overcome the current problem inside correctional institutions have been identified.
