The article analyses motif of kindness in the story «Art of living» by L. Ulitskaya, defines its role in the image system, points out bearers of motives, moral, esthetic characteristics of the writer’s stories and reviews the origin of the question.

The paper presents and analyzes the theory of generations developed by the American scientists N. Howe and W. Strauss, which is based on the opinion of the repeated patterns of behavior of four types of generations in the corresponding cycles of Anglo-American history. Special attention is given to the possibilities of its application in relation to the Millennial generations and its influence on the development trends of the national economy, in particular, youth entrepreneurship in Russia on the example of Tula region.
