The article considers the category of "social labour potential", which was developed in the social Sciences in the last three decades. The author draws attention to the fact that in terms of structural changes in society this interpretation is inadequate and proposes to analyze the socio-labour potential as a dynamic character-istic which depends on the labor market, and quality of life. Based on the results of sociological research discusses the importance of the educational status for the formation of socio-labour potential employees of scientific-technical and industrial spheres.

The paper deals with the specificity of mathematical and natural-science training of technical personnel in modern conditions of development of educational space. The author singles out the basic stages, key features, principles of implementation of mathematical and natural-science training of technical personnel in higher education.

In the article on the base of the using of the wide range of sources, there were considered several directions of the reformation of the high school of the Soviet Union in 1950-1960s by example of Kuibyshev industrial institute (nowadays – Samara state technical university). The main aspects of the forced development of the evening and distance study were analyzed. It is shown the start of establishment and strengthening of the given forms of learning outside the city of Kuibyshev (Samara).
