The article analyzes the conditions for the formation of the heuristic activity of cadets in the process of their training at a military university, as one of the promising areas of professional training for a future officer. The authors focus on the fact that heuristic activity contributes to the development of professional thinking among students. To organize the heuristic activity of cadets, professional training of teachers is necessary. The stages of their preparation for organizing the heuristic activity of students at the university are proposed.
