The article prezents the design of the content of training students for work in new condition and implementation of Federal State Education Standard. The author analyzes the content of the work program of discipline «Fundamentals of mathematical processing of information» for example, one section.

The article reveals the structure and essence of the concept of "information skills" of a junior school student. The article describes the expected difficulties faced by a primary school student when searching for information, interpreting it, and reusing it in practice. The author offers methodological recommendations for more effective work of the teacher on the information skills of students.

The article is devoted to the study of the peculiarities of the formation of information skills in younger schoolchildren in the context of learning how to work with text. The main information skills are defined in accordance with the Federal State Educational Standards for General Education, diagnostic tasks are described to determine the level of formation of students' information skills, difficulties encountered by students in working with information are identified, and recommendations for overcoming these difficulties are proposed.
