The article deals with dialectal words thematic group «Man», characterize the personality by occupation employment recorded in the fundamentals of the family names of the Tambov peasants and merchants. The authors point out that certain features of dialect words do their best material for the formation of these nick-names. With the development of antroponimick most of these nicknames is family names basics and «con-serve» dialect words for a long time, keeping intact its form and sound.
