Currently, close attention is paid to the problem of interaction between the American and British variants of the English language. The article examines the history, stages and reasons for the emergence of the American English language. The concept of "Americanism" is considered and examples of Americanisms are given. The obviousness of the main differences between British English and American English are revealed.

In the article the necessity of the linguacultural aspect in the teaching of the Russian language as a foreign one is substantiated. On the example of the Russian phraseological units the cultural-national information which is encoded in internal form of the phraseological units is revealed; the connection of the images, which are the basis of the phraseological units, with national-cultural interpretation of worldview of speakers is determined.
