According to the requirements of the modern Federal State Educational Standard of LLC, conditions should be created at literature lessons in middle classes that ensure not only the assimilation of the subject content of the discipline by schoolchildren, but also the development of their speech, involving the improvement of the ability to create various types of monological utterances, including selective retellings. The system of test tasks presented in this article makes it possible to find out to what extent 5th grade stu-dents have mastered the ability to determine the content of selective retellings of individual episodes of literary texts: to identify the most important microthemes necessary to reveal the topic set by the teacher, and select appropriate materials. Discussion of the test results, accompanied by clarification and correction of students' answers, will allow them to develop their ability to make selective retellings of fragments of literary works.
The article describes a number of tasks that contribute to the activation of cognitive activity of 5th grade students in literature lessons during the development of one of the program works included in the section «Russian folk tales». Non-traditional forms of work were designed to increase the interest of schoolchildren in studying the well-known fairy tale «The Frog Princess», to create conditions for the development of analytical and communicative skills of fifth graders.
In the modern Federal State Educational Standard of LLC, it is indicated that during the study of the subject "Literature", schoolchildren should learn how to establish links between the works of a writer and the facts of his biography. This article describes a system of lessons conducted in the 7th grade of secondary school, in which fragments of Leo Tolstoy's novella "Childhood" are studied in a biographical context.
