The article describes the impact of the depreciation policy of agricultural organizations on financial results by types of activity. The necessity of charging depreciation on productive livestock, as well as the need for a correct choice of method of depreciation are studied.

The article is devoted to the issue of the development of livestock farming in agricultural enterprises of the Zernograd district of the Rostov region as a promising branch of agriculture. Factors and conditions that have a beneficial effect on the implementation of agricultural activities by enterprises in the region are considered. A study was carried out of the dynamics of changes in the number of animals and their productivity in agricultural enterprises of the Zernograd region. The need and available opportunities for further development of the livestock industry in the region are shown.
