The article starts with the short description of some modern theories of globalization and cultural hybridization. Based on that theoretical knowledge the author proposes the cultural hybridization model as an aspect of Russian national youth policy construction.
The article deals with various approaches to machine translation: from skepticism to belief that human translation can be replaced by machine. The author reviews stages of machine translation development and outlines the spheres where it can be widely used. Special attention is given to machine translation post-editing which allows to integrate automatic translation into the work of international companies. Controlled language is proved to be essential in creating machine-translation oriented texts. The author suggests that machine translation can be successfully applied in terminology standardization process and scientific research.
The article presents the results of an empirical study of the dubbing process of cinematography audio recordings from English into Russian. It also gives a general overview of the history of dubbing in world cinema: from the period of silent films (1895-1927) to the present times. The author studies each stage of the dubbing process and considers the features inherent in a particular stage of localization. At the same time, dubbing is analyzed in the article as a type of localization of the film, in order to demonstrate various approaches to translation, entertaining ways of conveying the meaning of certain idioms and expressions from Quentin Tarantino's film «Inglorious Basterds» (2008) are given.
Art is a form of cultural expression as well as a tool and medium for the dissemination of culture. If culture is a subject of “interpretation,” then art is a “copy” expressed in various forms and means. Combined with the cover form of modern songs, this article discusses the shortcomings of examination-oriented education in modern foreign language teaching from the perspective of “artistic reality” and “mind formation”, and demonstrates its innovative role in promoting foreign language localization.
