The article represents the results of the study of the influence of American comic book culture on the manga genre. The author reveals the main stages in the development of both genres. Various works of these genres, obvious links between the two genres under discussion are viewed within the context of their interaction. In conclusion, the author summarizes the data and gives his assessment of the influence of comic book culture on the manga genre.

The article deals with the expression of the category of emotivity in a Japanese comics based on the material of the comic book «Fruit Basket». The ways in which the author conveys emotions of characters to a reader were identified and analyzed.
