Problems in the organization of patriotic education of youth requires joint efforts of representatives of various public institutions. The paper presents the results of a study of current activity of the representatives of educational and public organizations and associations of patriotic education of citizens, examines typical problems of realization of the program of patriotic education.

The issues of military-patriotic education of cadets are considered. Paramilitary relay races and military-patriotic games are proposed as one of the main forms of education. The analysis of the possibility of developing military professional competencies of cadets is carried out.
