This article is devoted to studying the effectiveness of using modern online translators and the capabilities of neural networks when translating expressively colored vo-cabulary and slang, taking into account the preservation of the emotional coloring of speech. The material consists of the results of a survey of more than a hundred stu-dents of the ANOHE «Moscow International University», who were asked questions related to the use of artificial intelligence tools in translation and the practice of using expressively colored vocabulary and slang in foreign language speech. Based on the data obtained, proposals were prepared for the use of modern online translators and neural networks when translating expressively colored vocabulary and slang, taking into account the skills of students in translation studies.
Linguocreative transformations make it possible to create new language forms based on existing units aimed at solving certain communicative tasks. Not only humans are capable of making these transformations, but also language models and artificial in-telligence trained on the basis of human speech. The article is devoted to the study of the linguistic and creative potential of the language models of the third generation, in particular, the ChatGPT-3.5-turbo model. The ability of this model to generate text is considered. Special attention is paid to such aspects as the ability of the model to generate metaphors, create puns, use neologisms and other linguistic means. The re-sults of the study demonstrate that ChatGPT-3.5-turbo has significant capabilities in the field of linguistic creativity, but its creative abilities are still limited and require further development. The article is of interest to specialists in the field of computa-tional linguistics, artificial intelligence and cognitive sciences.
The relevance of the research presented in the article is due to the need to con-sider the prospects for using neural networks for preparing the future linguist-translator to solve foreign language communicative problems. The article analyzes the capabilities of the “Twee” neural network for modeling the personality of an op-ponent in a real communicative situation and generating responses according to given parameters, which allow you to fully utilize the real apperceptive base of native Eng-lish speakers, as would happen in a real intercultural dialogue. It is predicted that the scope of application of neural networks will expand, including in the methodological aspect, in terms of training linguists and translators in higher education.
