The article deals with the problem of a new reading of the story «Farewell to Matyora» by the classic of russian literature of the 20th century, Valentin Rasputin. In the context of the technogenic, socio-economic and social challenges of the modern world, the process of globalization, the features of the poetics of the text are revealed, the semantic space, plot structure, figurative system and spiritual locations of the work are explored. The artistic content of the story is organically included in the aesthetics of «village» prose and in the world of the creative individuality of the siberian prose writer.
