The object of the study is relation of mystical and rational (faith and mind) in the framework of European Ontognostics. The theoretical bases of derivation doctrine are considered in the article. As a separate branch in linguistics, derivation was finally formed only in the 20th century. Antique and medieval authors studied changes in language only in the context of other studies in morphology. However, their conclusions about the word change have formed a powerful methodological basis for studying derivation in the structural and subsequent stages of philological thought.
