In this article the basic directions of development of social business, given its concept as an economic category. Presented by the development of elements of social business, their classification.

The article discusses approaches to the definition of “social business” concept, analyzes some features of solving social problems with the help of social business abroad and in Russia. The author highlights some peculiarities of this type of business activity formation as the basic institution of civil society in our country. The existing problems of social business in Russia are analyzed.
