The article presents the results of a theoretical analysis of the problem of studying the features of the development of professional identity among students of a pedagogical university. The author provides an understanding of the concept of professional identity, its structure, as well as the main features of the development of professional identity during the period of study at a university.

The article discusses the concept of «personality viability». The results of an empirical study conducted among students of Moscow Pedagogical State University are presented, during which the features of the viability of students of a pedagogical university were determined, as well as their ideas about the viability of personality, criteria and factors contributing to or hindering its formation were analyzed. Special attention is paid to the importance of creating a psychologically safe educational environment and the need for pedagogical support, which play a key role in developing the viability of modern students.
