The article briefly discusses the conditions, criteria, regimes and forms of sanctions measures, which are not related to the use of armed forces, their goals and methods of implementation by the United Nations Security Council in order to ensure international security and order, as well as the authority of the Security Council to apply these measures. In addition, the history of the evolution of sanctions in the system of international relations is traced.

The article is devoted to the role of the United Nations bodies in providing diplomatic protection. The main directions of work of the United Nations bodies in the sphere of diplomatic protection are revealаed. Examples of assistance of the United Nations bodies in the realization of diplomatic protection are given.
