The paper discusses practical ways of overcoming the contradictions between the value orientations in the family and at school; objectives of education and its real results.

The article deals with group work as a means of teaching elementary school pupils to solve text tasks. The notions of "group work", "word-processing task", how these two notions are related at mathematics lessons at primary school are disclosed. Examples of the organization of group work of schoolchildren in the process of learning to solve text problems are given.

This article presents the results of the development and testing of an online course on solving percentage problems for students in grades 5–11, created using the Stepik platform. As part of the pedagogical experiment, the academic performance of the control group (instruction using traditional methods) and the experimental group (using blended learning with the author's e-course) was compared.
