The article deals with the problem of teenage slang. It is extremely relevant for many scientific areas: for age psychology, since the special language created by teenagers, which is a kind of pass into their world, is at the same time one of the reasons for misunderstanding between adolescents and adults; for linguistics, since adolescence is most characterized by a creative approach to life, and it is teenage slang that is currently one of the most interesting language subsystems. In the social aspect, teenage slang is a very interesting phenomenon. At its core, it is a code language that is the key to understanding the world of teenagers.
The relevance of the work is based on the need to study a lexical space of the modern Russian language and to describe trends that form a speech portrait of contemporary youth. Semantics and etymology of slang words are analyzed via the method of interview that has been conducted with the first-year students of Tambov State Technical University. The article aims at analyzing the key mechanisms of youth slang functioning based on students’ lexicon, revealing the sources of its replenishment, defining the most frequently used jargon words and finding out the reasons for their use by university students. The material of this study may be useful for linguists, sociologists, copywriters, psychologists and other specialists.

This article examines the impact of social networks on the process of learning foreign languages. Theories such as socio-cultural learning and language immersion are analyzed, which reveal the role of the digital environment in language development. The article explores the benefits of using social networks, including access to authentic language content, the ability to communicate with native speakers and increase motivation to learn foreign languages. Along with this, the main disadvantages of social networks are described. Examples of words and expressions that are used in everyday life and that were borrowed from the Internet are given.
