The article deals with the aspect of cadets’ individual study organization in the sphere of foreign languages using an electronic textbook. It also describes pedagogical conditions that promote the effectiveness of individual study. It gives the examples of tests for self-monitoring of the studied material with the usage of an electronic textbook.

Electronic manual is an innovative and multifunctional means of teaching based on computer educational programs. Such parameters as multimedia, interaction, program code and content flexibility intensify and optimize the process of profession-oriented English teaching. The use of task variation, systems of naviga-tion, prompts, control and check of learnt material provide the cadets to be more active and work without assistance.
