In the article, on the basis of the study, certain main directions for improving the efficiency of land use by agricultural enterprises. The main factors influencing the efficiency of the use of agricultural land of agrarian formations have been identified. The dependence of crop losses on the duration of harvesting winter wheat with direct combining has been determined.

The article presents the most common method of analysis – SWOT-analysis, which allows an enterprise to analyze the state of the external and internal environment, identify opportunities and threats, its strengths and weaknesses. The definition of the SWOT-analysis method is given, its advantages and disadvantages for the strategic management of agricultural enterprises are described. A scheme for choosing a development strategy based on a SWOT analysis is presented. A SWOT-analysis of the activities of agricultural enterprises in the Zernograd region was carried out, their strengths and weaknesses, as well as opportunities and threats, were identified.

The article is devoted to the issue of the development of livestock farming in agricultural enterprises of the Zernograd district of the Rostov region as a promising branch of agriculture. Factors and conditions that have a beneficial effect on the implementation of agricultural activities by enterprises in the region are considered. A study was carried out of the dynamics of changes in the number of animals and their productivity in agricultural enterprises of the Zernograd region. The need and available opportunities for further development of the livestock industry in the region are shown.
