A method of transition to process management agricultural technologies. The technique is to develop a phased implementation of action process approach, the overall goal of decomposition on the objectives of each stage and the selection of methodological tools. Marked features of process management, in this case, the process approach has found the combination of the principles of the system analysis and system-structural method. The combination of functional and process approaches in the management of the agricultural organization will make it possible to safely move process management and positive impact on organizational performance in the medium term.

The article examines one of the stages of development and improvement of arable tools and farming systems in Russia, namely, the period of the end. XVIII century – early. XX century. The prerequisites for the formation of a technical base in agriculture are analyzed, two trends in the development of agricultural mechanization are highlighted, the reasons for the lag in the production of agricultural machinery in Russia in this period are indicated.
