The article is devoted to one of the oldest Russian industries – Shchekinoazot. The company was founded as a base for the implementation of the latest achievements of Russian chemical science. The article reveals the history of Shchekinoazot; presents the analysis of the role of the enterprise in the economic development of the city of Shchekino and the region.

The article describes the role of chemistry science in modern life and the importance of its study in secondary school. Non-standard forms of learning, which activate cognitive process of students, are noted. The author briefly describes the goals that are set before students and highlights the basic principles of high school students’ cognitive culture formation at chemistry lessons.
