The article presents the results of an empirical study of the relationship between codependency and hardiness in women with adverse childhood experiences (ACE). The sample consisted of 153 women aged 25–45 years. The following methods were used: Adverse Childhood Experiences International Questionnaire (ACE-IQ, adapted by A.A. Kibitov et al.), Hardiness Test by S. Maddi (adapted by D.A. Leontiev, E.I. Rasskazova), and Spann-Fischer Codependency Scale (adapted by A.A. Berdichevsky et al.). A statistically significant negative correlation was found between hardiness and codependency (r = –0.625, p < 0.001). A dose-dependent effect of ACE was established: a significant increase in the level of codependency occurs with the accumulation of six or more adverse events in childhood. The data obtained substantiate the need to develop the components of hardiness (commitment and control) as targets for psychocorrectional work with women who have traumatic childhood experiences.
