The authors examine the problem of improving the efficiency of crop production and formation of competitive advantages of agricultural business in order to increase their competitiveness. The authors discuss the possible ways for solving the problem and propose to increase the efficiency of production by increasing the productivity through the introduction of new varieties. The authors analyze the results of implementation, its effectiveness and impact on the competitiveness of agribusiness entities.

The article describes the author's methodology for the economic evaluation of the effectiveness of innovative investment projects for the reproduction of the technical base of crop production. Using this methodology, the results of evaluating the effectiveness of technical and technological innovations introduction in the south of the Rostov region were obtained and conclusions were drawn about the advisability of implementing innovation and investment projects for different cost financing conditions.

The work reveals the essence of the category "strategic management", shows the main stages of this process in relation to the crop production industry and the characteristics of the methods used at each stage of strategic management. As an example, the developed strategy for the development of the grain industry for an agricultural enterprise of small land use is presented.

The article analyzes the system of indicators of the efficiency of crop production in a separate agricultural organization. Natural and cost indicators are considered for the industry as a whole, as well as in the context of the main cultivated crops. Conclusions are made about the dynamics of indicators.
