The work is devoted to the state and prospects of dairy farming development in the Rostov region. A brief analysis of the current state of the dairy cattle industry in Russia and in the Rostov region is given. The authors identify the main factors that contribute to the development of this industry, as well as further prospects for its development.

The article is devoted to the development of the dairy industry of the Rostov region. The state of the industry is considered, the share of agricultural organizations and peasant (farmer) farms is revealed, the largest milk producers in the Rostov region are identified. The authors propose to assess the state of competition among key milk producers using the concentration index for the four largest producers, which showed that competition in the milk market is high, the market is weakly concentrated.

The article is devoted to the issue of the relevance of using renewable energy sources in the agricultural industry using the example of dairy farming. The technology of milking cows on pasture is considered. The influence of external factors on the physiological processes of milk production in cows is shown. The requirements for the milking process of animals are described in order to obtain environmentally friendly products and high productivity. The advantages of using solar photovoltaic panels as a power source for milking installations and summer mobile platforms for milking cows are considered.
