The article is devoted to the study of US digital diplomacy as an integral part of the "smart power" concept. The author outlines the basic definitions of this concept, refers to various interpretations of the leading experts in the field of IT, political science and international relations. Particular attention is paid to the activities of the US State Department as the main actor promoting the foreign policy interests of the government abroad; the main activities of this political body in the development of diplomacy on the Internet are defined.

Today, digital diplomacy plays an important role in the context of intercultural communication. New information technologies have led to changes in the diplomatic sphere. Digital diplomacy makes it possible to conduct foreign policy communications using digital tools and platforms. The article analyzes the advantages and limitations of digital diplomacy in the context of intercultural communication, including improving the availability of information, reducing barriers to communication and the possibility of creating global dialogues.
