the article considers the features of the formation of ethnic identity of adolescents in an urban environment, describes the results of a pilot study of the formation of knowledge and ideas of adolescents about the ethnic characteristics of a person and a group, awareness of belonging to their ethnic group, outlines ways to increase the ethnocultural competence of adolescents.
