The relevance is due to the influence of intellectual lability on the ability to learn and success in educational and other activities in adolescence. The authors present a theoretical analysis of the age characteristics of adolescent students. The results of a study aimed at studying the indicators of intellectual lability in adolescent students are presented.
The article considers the problems and challenges a foreign language teacher faces due to specific characteristics of teaching a foreign language and foreign culture: balance between communicative and non-communicative tasks, focus on accuracy or fluency, drill exercises or gamification, creating the authentic language surroundings or using the mother tongue. The motives inspiring the teacher in choosing techniques and approaches to teaching and a good reason behind the accepted solution depending on the goals of teaching are discussed.
