This article discusses game as a method of teaching a foreign language in primary school, provides some examples of games for introducing and consolidating the studied vocabulary.
The article considers the game as a method of teaching preschool and primary school children English as a foreign language. The functions of the game in teaching, the main criteria for its correct implementation by the teacher, as well as the sequence of actions in preparation for such classes are given as an example. Based on the author's pedagogical experience, the experimental game technologies used in the class with the low level of foreign language competence are described and the results of such an experiment are analyzed.
The article presents the results of an empirical study of the formation and development of cognitive interest in English lessons. The most effective forms of work, methods and technologies for the development of interest in the educational and cognitive process are using authentic materials and computer technologies, game method, role-playing, project method.
