The article is a chronicle of historical events and facts about the development of the system of preschool education in Mordovia for over 100 years. The material presented on the stages: the opening of the first stage of preschool institutions (1913–1917 biennium); the stage of formation of preschool education as an important part of state educational system (1917 – beginning of 30-ies); a stage of intensive development of pre-school education (30–50-s of the XX century); the stage of sustainable development of pre-school education (60–80-ies of the XX century); stage municipalization and modernization of preschool education (90-ies of the XX century – 2010); the modern stage (2010 – present).
