Formation of regional identity of teenagers and young people is regarded as one of the conditions of de-veloping territories of the Russian Federation. The article explains the role of local history as a resource for the formation of civic identity; it analyzes the structural components of regional identity: cognitive, emotion-al and evaluative (axiological), and behavioral. The authors discuss possibilities of additional educational programmes "Literature of the Vyatka region", "History of the Vyatka region", "The nature of the Vyatka re-gion", "The Art of the Vyatka region". The modified questionnaire is offered to determine the level of for-mation of students’ regional identity.

In the article on the example of the lesson historical studies the teacher shows the technology of regional identity formation of students in the sixth grade of General of the organization; methods of developing pos-itive attitudes towards their homeland, awareness of regional facilities.
