The article is devoted to topical issues of patriotic education of the student youth. The author believes that under current conditions it is necessary to maximize the potential of university museums, museum complex-es, assuming that their opportunities are far from exhausted. The author considers the best, in his opinion, the problems that are associated with the patriotic education of the university offers his vision of how to update the means, forms, methods, and technologies related to the patriotic education of students.

Formation of regional identity of teenagers and young people is regarded as one of the conditions of de-veloping territories of the Russian Federation. The article explains the role of local history as a resource for the formation of civic identity; it analyzes the structural components of regional identity: cognitive, emotion-al and evaluative (axiological), and behavioral. The authors discuss possibilities of additional educational programmes "Literature of the Vyatka region", "History of the Vyatka region", "The nature of the Vyatka re-gion", "The Art of the Vyatka region". The modified questionnaire is offered to determine the level of for-mation of students’ regional identity.

The research is devoted to the analysis of the manifestations of patriotism by today's students as the char-acteristics of their value-sense sphere and scope of the moral consciousness. The main object of study – the implementation of specific content (cognitive, emotional, behavioral) and leveled (by L. Kohlberg: pre-conventional, conventional, postconventional) components of the patriotism shown by young people.

The paper presents the author's methodical system of realization of civil-patriotic education in specialized geographic education that meets the cultural ideas of student-oriented learnings.
