The author proposes the prospects of improving foreign language teaching by means of considering individual cognitive styles and enriching ways of cognitive activity of students using electronic technologies.
The article deals with the theory of learning styles by D.A. Kolb. The origin and development of this theory is being studied. The influence that the process of introducing of modern information and communication technologies in learning has had on it is considered. The theory of learning styles correlates with the main provisions of the theory of contextual learning A.A. Verbitsky. The conclusion is made about the role of these theories in the construction of the theoretical basis of the pedagogical design of the network adaptive educational environment.
